  • Corporate governance is more than the traditional structural governance framework. It also requires an assessment of the regulatory environment and the culture at the company

    Gavin Anderson is Chairman of GMI and one of the original founders of the firm in April 2000. Today GMI provides corporate governance research and ratings on more than 4000 global companies and has subscribers in 16 countries. Clients include investment managers of all sizes, regulators, central banks, stock exchanges, company advisors and corporations themselves.

    Previously he was the founder and Chairman and CEO of Gavin Anderson & Company a corporate, financial and public affairs firm with 300 employees in 13 offices throughout the US, Europe, Asia and Australia. During his twenty year history as CEO, Mr. Anderson advised boards and senior company management on five continents on strategy and financial communications associated with mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcies, restructurings, IPO’s privatizations, demutualizations and crisis events. He also oversaw the firm’s sovereign consulting practice and has advised governments in Europe, Africa and the Asia Pacific region. In 1996 he completed the sale of his firm to Omnicom Inc and stepped down from his executive responsibilities in February 2000. His earlier career was spent at Hill and Knowlton in London and New York and Pan Public Relations and the Shell Company in Sydney and Melbourne respectively.. In 2000 he was awarded the Public Relations Society of America’s Atlas Award for lifetime achievement and in 2007 was named by Directorship Magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in governance.

    Mr. Anderson was educated at CBC St. Kilda and Monash University in Australia. He is a member of the Economic Club of New York and has served on the boards of several non profit organizations.
