Recent financial markets globally are going through an accelerating degree of uncertainties, and it is particularly the case in the US. Among various factors in the midst of uncertainties are hedge funds that have been increasing its role as a supplier of liquidity and therefore, giving significant impacts to various financial markets. In this regard, what and how exactly are these hedge funds doing in terms of dealing with recent market situations? What have really brought them to the situations? Furthermore, in view of expanded weights in institutional portfolios globally, how should hedge-fund investors handle a time of uncertainties like today? What should be the optimal portfolio strategy with respect to investing in hedge funds going forward? These questions will be addressed from a perspective of a fund of hedge fund investor as well as a hedge fund manager.
